—To Everyone Who Keeps Up with My Health—
—Diabetes—
I keep up with my body well.
That said, I noticed my Blood Sugar had been High Three Days in a row, hitting 400 many times.
I called my Doctor to report it.
My FreeStyle Libre Sensor logs my Blood Sugar and Uploads those Files to my Doctor using my smartphone.
The Doctor and Nurse practitioner reviewed my FreeStyle Libre Blood Sugar log for the past week and, after reviewing it, told me to come in at 7:30 AM. I would be the first Patient.
I got up at 4 AM to be able to arrive at the Doctor’s office at 7:30 AM. —I must get up and move around for an hour or so before starting my day.
At 6:00 AM, I headed to the Doctor’s office.
His Office is in Birmingham, …down Highway 280…
I always use ellipses when talking about Highway 280…
You may remember that over a year ago, I was able to get off of Insulin. As far as Diabetes was concerned, life was good—no more Insulin.
After arriving and getting called back to the “Room,” the Doctor took my A1C and had a whole panel of Blood Work done on me.
My A1C was 6.2 the last time I had it checked. Anything 7 and lower is good.
This time it was 8.6. Bad.
The Doctor did commend me for catching the problem quickly.
Still, though, he had to put me back on Insulin.
—24 Units of Long-Acting Insulin. That gives me 1 Unit of Insulin every hour for 24 hours.
I take the Long-Acting first thing in the Mornings.
Then, I have Fast-Acting Insulin for when I eat, and my Blood Sugar Spikes.
When my Blood Sugar was under control, it would be around 105 when I got up in the mornings.
Now, after sleeping all night and not eating anything, it’s 175 when I get up in the mornings.
My Doctor is worried that I may be developing Type 1 Diabetes—Right now, I have Type 2, which is better than Type 1.
As I type this, my Blood Sugar is 172. That’s with no Sugar over the past several hours.
So, I’m sure my Doctor will raise my Long-Acting Insulin from 24 Units in the Mornings to something Higher.
As always, I’ll closely check my Blood Sugar Numbers using my FreeStyle Libre and Finger Sticks.
That’s the latest with my Diabetes.
Love you,
–Lynn
