Friday Night In The City

The motel I’m staying at is on one of the main roads here.

All night I’ve heard emergency vehicles pass by.
Ambulance, Fire Trucks, and Police Cars have been going by all night.
It’s Friday night in the city.

Each time an emergency vehicle passes by, I say a prayer for the person(s) they are heading to help.

There is a big gas station next to where I am staying. It has a large parking lot located behind the motel for the truck drivers to park and sleep. I counted over twenty diesel trucks parked back there.

Standing outside, I can hear all the sounds of a big city—sirens, vehicles, horns honking.
With each siren I hear, I know someone somewhere had to dial 9-1-1.

There is another sound I can also hear—the laughter of young adults.

The local schools must have had their Graduation Ceremonies tonight.
Many young adults, wearing their “Cap and Gown,” have parked outside and are eating at the “City Cafe.”
Many pictures are getting taken by proud parents.
The young adults look like they are on top of the world.

And I say a prayer for these young adults as well.
