Over the weekend, I got enthralled with the book “Don Quixote.”
The book is fascinating.
By the time I got to chapter two, I was laughing.
I remember saying aloud, while laughing, “It’s like Monty Python.”
“Don Quixote” was published in 1605 and is considered the first modern novel.
It’s also been translated into over fifty different languages.
And it’s still funny in 2023.
“Miguel de Cervantes” is the writer, and I’ll bet he was fascinating to talk to.
I’ll bet he was the life of any party.
The book has over a hundred chapters and is split into two volumes.
Volume one has fifty-two chapters, and Volume two has Seventy-Four chapters.
I don’t know how much time I will have to put into this book.
I don’t think I would be too far off if I guessed Seventy-Four hours of reading.
It’s close to one thousand pages long.
Now, the book is hard to read.
In fact, it’s the hardest book I’ve read yet.
I sort of wished I’d read “Moby Dick” first, but I thought Don Quixote would be easier. Unfortunately, I believe I was wrong.
I’m reading Chapter Ten, and thus far, it is a challenging yet fun and funny read.
And, so far, it’s keeping my attention.
