Epitaphs

—Epitaphs—

The sun was out, and the temperature was in the ’60s today.
We have the weirdest weather here in the South. I’m sure it’s like that all over, though.
This weekend, the weather is supposed to be cold, and the word “Snow” is getting tossed around. Today is nice, though.

With it being so nice out, I thought I’d take advantage and visit my family cemetery.

I walked around reading the Epitaph carved on people’s Headstones.
You can tell a lot about the person just by reading the Epitaph.

Some of the more popular ones were:

—Gone But Not Forgotten
—The Lord Is Close To The Broken Hearted
—In Loving Memory Of
—We Will Meet Again
—Rest In Peace

I once visited Francis Bavier’s grave. She played “Aunt Bee” on “The Andy Griffith Show.”
Her Epitaph reads: “To Live In The Hearts Of Those Left Behind Is Not To Die.”

I’ve also visited George Lindsey’s grave. He played “Goober” on “The Andy Griffith Show.”
His Epitaph reads: “I’m Glad I Made You Laugh!”

My brothers’ Headstone says, “A True Fisherman Is One Who Will Persist At His Task For Hours.”
His Footstone says, “He Who Is Generous Shall Be Blessed For He Gives Some Of His Food To Those In Need.

My Nana has a poem that she wrote as her Epitaph.

But my favorite is my Pawpaw’s Epitaph.
It simply says, “I’m OK.”

As I said, You can tell a lot about a person just from reading their Epitaph.
