It happens to everyone.
Second by second, minute by minute, hour by hour, day by day, month by month, and year by year, it happens.
We see ourselves in the mirror every day. Sometimes multiple times a day.
Yet, we never see it.
Then, one day, while looking through “old” photos, you run across an old picture of yourself. Then, you see it.
I thought about everything that had happened to me in between the two photos.
Key Players in my family had died.
I’ve gone through many surgeries, procedures, and sickness.
I wore Diapers in one picture and had a Colostomy and Urostomy in the other.
I spent more than a hundred days in the hospital between the two photos.
9/11 had not happened yet in one photo.
The person in the first picture would have gotten upset and argued with you if you dared call him “disabled.”
The guy in the second picture has accepted the facts.
As I said, you look at yourself in the mirror daily and do not see it happening. But, it is happening.
Some may call it “aging.”
I call it life.
And I try to live it to the fullest.
