“Happy Mothers Day!” I shouted to my Momma.
The date was April 24th, 2022.
I had gone to three different Garden Centers and bought Seven other Plants for my Momma.
I cleaned off the front and carefully placed all the Plants in good spots, paying close attention to ensure everything was perfect for Momma.
“Here’s your card; I love you, Momma.”
“Well, thank you, Son. But…Mother’s Day isn’t today. It’s not for a while now, Son. But, Thank you. I love you, too!” She said with a grin while trying not to laugh out loud.
Embarrassed, I said, “It’s not today? Are you sure about that?”
“I’m sure, Son.”
“No way. I worked my tail off. It has to be today. You’re joking.”
“Nope. Not today.”
I felt stupid. Stew-Pid. Stewpid. S-T-E-W-P-I-D.
“We’ll meet back out here on May 8th, then. In the meantime, I’m flat-busted. So this is your gift.” And I began laughing out loud—uncontrollable laughing.
And every day since that day, I’ve watered all of her plants, ensuring that they are still good and alive when the actual Mother’s Day came.
And… Today is the day!
I lost the card that I had given her. I had taken it back from her and said, “I’ll give this back to you on May the 8th!”
I had to go buy another one, though.
I made her avoid the front since that mishap in April, too.
So, today Momma walked out the front door and enjoyed her new plants. —For the second time.
I gave her a card and one new plant that I bought yesterday and said, “Happy Mother’s Day, Momma. I love you.”
And today was a good day.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the Momma’s out there.
