A Good Day

I was in Homewood, Alabama, getting some Lab Work done this morning.
Afterward, I was meeting a friend at Waffle House for Breakfast.
Friends are essential in my life, and I looked forward to meeting her for Breakfast.

The quickest way to get to this Waffle House was to get on Hollywood Blvd. I was looking forward to this as well.

Hollywood Boulevard is Beautiful. I love to cut through there when possible. There are Beautiful Homes tucked away in a Beautiful Community.
“Mom and Pop” Restaurants and Markets to shop at.

Immediately, a Spanish-style home is on my left. It’s beautiful. It is slightly over 2000 square feet and has four bedrooms and three bathrooms. —I “Zillowed” it. There are several Spanish-style homes on “The Boulevard.”
Then there are Ranch-Style and Traditional-Style homes.
Many were built in the ’20s, while others were built more recently.

Men and Women are out for their Morning Jog as I drive by.
I enter a “No Cellphone” section when driving by the School.
A big Church with a huge Steeple is on my right. It’s Beautiful.
A woman walks her two dogs as I pass.
I love driving through “The Boulevard.”

I make it to Waffle House.
I tell the waitress that I’m meeting a friend there.
I get a Coffee and Water to drink while I wait.

She asks, “Do you know what your friend will drink?”

“No. Actually, this is my first time meeting her for Breakfast, so I don’t know what she’s drinking.”

“OH! A Date! And I get to be the waitress! I’m so psyched, ‘Honey,’ I’ll put on some Marvin Gaye to play.”

“Oh no, no, no. It’s nothing like that. She’s married. She is just a friend. I’m friends with her and her Husband. We’re just meeting to hang out and talk.” I know my face had to have turned red.

“Oh, shucks. I was about to go get some candles. I was really getting excited to be a part of something special.”

“Well, the next time I go on a date, I’ll know to bring her here. With you on my side, it’ll have to go over good,” I reply.

“Oh yes, ‘Honey,’ you bring your next date here,” she says.

My friend shows up. We hugged, and I told her what the waitress had thought. We all laughed.

After a great talk about life and a nice T-bone steak to eat, we hugged and paid the bill.
“I really needed that,” I thought as I got into my vehicle. —Friends are important in life.

Afterward, I headed to Dollar General, where I was met by an employee who said, “I was so worried when you didn’t come by the past two days. I just knew something was wrong with you.”

I explained to her that some things had been going on with my Diabetes, which is why I hadn’t been by the store.
I then told her that I had gotten some Blood Work done this morning and was waiting on the results.
I was floored that I was missed. It warmed my Heart.

She said, “I know you like plants, so I brought you two.” She handed me one outdoor plant that looked like a “Wandering Jew” and one indoor plant whose name I have no idea. I’m sure she told me, but I’ve forgotten.
The Manager gave me a plant last month as well.

What was so special was that she and the Manager noticed I was gone and hadn’t shown up. They noticed it. They noticed.
That’s more special than the plants.
And that’s one reason I love going to that “DG.”

Breakfast with a Friend in the morning; Given plants and made to feel special in the afternoon.
It was a good day.

I’ll post my Diabetes Update in another post. Possibly tomorrow.

That’s all for now.

Love you,

–Lynn

P.S. – That Spanish-style home on “The Boulevard” is valued at 1.3 million. I “Zillowed” it.
