Calhoun’s

—Calhoun’s—

I made my way over to “Calhoun’s” for some BBQ today.

They got listed as the number 1 BBQ restaurant on several lists, and I wanted to see for myself.

They’re located right next to “Cherokee Grill,” and the inside looks much like Cherokee Grill.

I was quickly seated and went ahead and placed my whole order. I had looked at the menu online before arriving, so I knew what I wanted already.

I got a Half Slab of Ribs, Creamy Slaw, and Smoky Mountain Baked Beans. Tea to drink.

The bread basket got brought out, and it had a piece of Cornbread, a Biscuit, and a Dinner Roll.
It also had a Sweet Roll, which I saved for Dessert.

The Ribs and Slaw were good.
The Smoky Mountain Baked Beans tasted like Chili for a Chilidog. Not that that is a bad thing. I love Hot Dog Chili. It just didn’t go with this meal, in my opinion.
Other than that, the meal was good.

While I was eating, I noticed the Fire Chief being seated.

I’ve spoken with him on the phone before. I wrote about it in my Journal.

When I first started coming to Gatlinburg alone, I gave my medical information to 911/EMS, and the Chief called to let me know he had received my info and that I would be in great hands if I should ever need Emergency Help.
I’ve never forgotten that phone call.
I didn’t want to bother him during his lunch hour. He was eating with someone else, and it was a business lunch for all I knew.
So, I gave my waitress my card and asked her to put his lunch on my card and tell the Chief, “Thank you for all you do.”

I then made my way out.

I’ve now had BBQ from:

—Three Jimmy’s
—Calhoun’s
—Bennetts

Once I get enough under my belt, I’ll rank them.

That’s all for now.

Love you,

–Lynn
