Surprise Birthday Party

I’ve been as busy as a Social Butterfly here lately.

I’ve gone to two, yes, count ’em, two, Birthday Parties.

The first one was a Surprise Birthday Party for my First Cousin on Papa’s side.
She celebrated the Big Six-Zero.—She doesn’t look a day over 44.
As I said, it was a surprise party, and it took place at the “Woodall Building” in Springville, Alabama.

Papa, Mom, and I got ready and headed that way. I wore my Sports Coat for the event.

The Woodall Building goes back to the 1880s.
It started out as a Wagon and Buggy assembly plant.
Today, it gets used for private events such as Birthdays and Weddings.

We walked inside. The place was decorated nicely.
If you know me, you know I’m a hugger.
I hug, and I say, “I love you” a lot.
If I’ve learned anything in life, it’s to make sure to hug and tell people that you love them.
I had been there no longer than 10 minutes, and I had hugged over twenty people already.

One of the Daughters shouted, “She’s almost here! She’ll be here in One minute! Everyone get ready to yell, ‘Surprise!’ when they come in.”

I was excited.
I also wondered if the Birthday Girl had any idea that she was about to walk into a Surprise Birthday Party.

The Husband and Birthday Girl arrive, and her husband opens the door for his wife—the Birthday Girl.
The look on her face as everyone shouted, “Surprise!” said it all. She had no idea. She was indeed Surprised.
People clapped, and people cheered.
And I got another hug and got to tell one more person, “I love you.”

Happy Birthday, Cousin. I love you.

P.S. – I’ll post about the Second Party in another post.
