—Drivin’—
I got in my truck shortly after 11:30 AM CST today and set my GPS for the Cabin.
The GPS said that I should arrive at 6:23 PM EST.
Of course, I began playing “East Bound And Down” from “Smoky And The Bandit” and made it my goal to arrive before 6:23 PM EST. —Safely, of course.
The first part of the trip is getting over to the interstate. The drive to the interstate takes roughly an hour. By the time I made it to the interstate, my GPS arrival time was now 6:22 PM EST.
“Yes! All I have to do is beat 6:23,” I said to myself.
Now, I am not a fast driver at all.
When I got onto the interstate, I got up to the speed limit and turned my cruise control on. Cruise Control is the key. You don’t want to be speeding up and slowing down over and over. You want to keep one constant speed.
By the time I got to Chattanooga, my arrival time was 6:20 PM EST.
Chattanooga is always iffy. Going through in the middle of the day and not in the evening has always worked out for me, and today was no different. I got through Chattanooga with no problems.
My arrival time was still 6:20 PM. So I didn’t lose any time, which is good.
I usually get off at the Lenoir City exit, but I’ve heard the Sweetwater Exit is faster. I’ve taken it once, and my GPS was telling me to retake it today. So, I did.
Around Townsend, TN., I was home free and set to arrive at 6:16 PM.
Then it happened…
An Ambulance passed by me. I said a Prayer, as I usually do, for the person(s) that the ambulance was going to see.
About 4 miles later, I got stuck in traffic.—Someone had wrecked.
I don’t think anyone was hurt. At least, it didn’t look as if anyone was hurt when I passed by.
I arrived at the Cabin at 6:47 PM EST…
Oh well.
At least no one got hurt.
