This year’s 4th of July was great.
My Aunt and Uncle came over, and we grilled Hamburgers and Hot Dogs.
After we got through eatin’, my Aunt and Uncle broke out the Homemade Ice Cream Maker.
You’re missing out if you’ve never had good ol’ homemade American Ice Cream.
Homemade Ice Cream is as American as Apple Pie. —Don’t spoil my thoughts by Googlin’ where homemade Ice Cream originated. Or Apple Pie, for that matter—
My Aunts recipe called for “Heavy Cream.” Mom said “Half and Half” would work fine, but we discovered it really needed “Heavy Cream.”
It was still delicious.
We also had Banana Pudding.
My Diabetes Alarm on my Smartphone went crazy after I finished eating dessert.
Papa, my Uncle, and I then watched two funny movies. —Back to back. “St. Vincent” and “Murder Mystery.” Both are pretty funny. Both are rated PG-13, but when I was growing up, they would both be rated “R.”
Afterward, I went to our “Small Town, USA” fireworks show.
It took place in front of the Middle School.
A thousand people showed up.
The local Wrecker Company had a big American Flag waving. Children ran freely, chasing one another.
A Live band played songs such as “Little Red Riding Hood” from the year 1966.
The crowd counted down from ten to one to start the fireworks show.
And at this moment, I’m proud to live in a small town.
And I’m proud to be an American.
Happy 4th of July
