Twenty-Six years had passed since I had gotten Saved.
I had now graduated college and received my Microsoft, Novell, and CompTIA certifications.
I had gotten put on disability by my doctor from my career as an I.T. Manager.
My grandmother, “Nana,” had passed away with brain cancer. “Tony,” my brother, had passed away at 38 with a brain hemorrhage.
I had moved outside of the Birmingham area to live with my family due to my health. (It was the doctor’s recommendation.)
I now rented my house out in Huntsville, and I still do to this day.
I know now that it was God’s Will that I move down here.
One day I was spending time with my nephew, and I told him I was going to get Baptized. He started saying, “Get my preacher to Baptize you, ‘Brother Steve,’ will Baptize you, he would love to!” I told him I would think about it.
I wanted the right person to Baptize me.
I had visited my nephew’s church a couple of times already, and I did like the preacher. It was at the beginning of May in 2015. I knew I needed and wanted to get Baptized soon.
Then, one night, I read the Bible and read where Jesus got Baptized by John the Baptist. I had always known of this story, but this time, it hit me, “If Jesus got Baptized himself, and he was perfect, then I really needed to get Baptized, and soon.”
Then at 16 years of age, on May 28th, my nephew passed away.
It was rough. It was sad.
His preacher, “Brother Steve” performed the ceremony.
After hearing Brother Steve talk so passionately about my nephew, I knew he was the one I wanted to Baptized me.
I talked with Brother Steve to plan the Baptism, and he asked if I could get fully submerged.
Due to my situation, I don’t even take a bath; I take showers.
I realized that getting Baptized would be difficult.
I have a urostomy and colostomy on my stomach.
I’ve also had over thirty surgeries, and my stomach is scarred up pretty severely.
Brother Steve came up with the idea of Saran Wrapping my whole stomach to keep water off. I agreed.
I invited everyone I could think of— Friends and family.
On July 11th, 2015 (7/11/15-Lucky Number), I got Baptized.
The church was just as full as any given Sunday. I got blessed with good friends and family. Everyone I had invited showed up.
My oldest brother even took time off from his vacation at the lake to drive over and film it.
Mom said she had never seen me look so calm and relaxed.
The saran wrap did work, by the way.
I had to wear something underneath the robe, and it ended up that I wore a pair of my nephews’ shorts.
It was the second-best day of my life.
—The best day was the day I got Saved.
