Mt. Airy – Day 4

—Mt. Airy – Day 4—

After our Church Service this morning, many people headed back home.

Aunt Claudine, Shirley, and I are leaving out on Monday, though.

So, into town, we went. Main Street, to be exact.

The town was slow today, Sunday, probably because most people head out on Sunday, which is why I like to leave out on Monday.

Our first stop was “Barneys Cafe” on Main Street.

The special today was the “Barney Burger” with fries and a drink for $8.50
For .50 cents more, you could swap fries for Onion Rings, which all three of us did.

The burgers were delicious, as well as the onion rings.

To drink, we got three sweet tea’s in the Souvenir cup.

Afterward, we walked to “Walkers” for our dessert.

I ordered a “Chocolate Sundae” with Chocolate, Caramel, and Hot Fudge syrup. They topped it off with whip cream and a Cherry.
(I figured I’d work it off)

Next, I split off from Aunt Claudine and my Step-Grandmother, Shirley, and headed to “Opie’s Candy Store.”

I like “Opies Candy Store” because they carry candy sold by the pound.
You grab a bag, a scoop, and scoop your favorite candies into the bag.
I got two bags of candy and had a pleasant conversation with the owner.
He said that “Mt. Airy, NC.,” is a great place to live. I believe him.

Next, I went “Window Shopping” while Aunt Claudine and Shirley went shopping for some souvenirs to take back home.

We all met back up at the vehicle and came back to the room here at “The Mayberry Motor Inn.”

Tonight, I will pack my things back into the vehicle, so I don’t have to pack in the morning.
Unfortunately, I can’t pack very well half asleep, so I need to pack my things up tonight before sleep.

Tomorrow morning we will leave out headed back home to Alabama.

This trip will be one of the more memorable trips I’ve ever taken, and I’ll admit that it’s going to be sad for me to leave in the morning.

I’m already checking into getting a room for “Mayberry Days” in September.
“Mayberry Motor Inn” is already full up for that week, though.
I’ll call around once I get back home and try to find a room somewhere.

I will be back, though—you always come back to Mt. Airy.
So, hopefully, I’ll be back this September.

That is all for now.

Love you,

–Lynn
