Dollar General

My Uncle has the inside scoop on who has what on sale.
Want to know who has the cheapest gas? My Uncle will know.
And fortunately for us, he calls to let us know about all the deals out there. And today, he called.

Nestled away close to Gardendale, Alabama, is a Dollar General.
Along the route to get to it are houses, gated communities, one Cracker Barrell, and a Shell Gas Station. And none of that is in any particular order.

I arrived at this Dollar General, grabbed my buggy, and headed for the Freezer and Cooler section.
My eyes widened as I saw precisely what my Uncle had told of.
The sign on every freezer and cooler said, “Everything Half Off but Milk and Eggs.” Yes. Everything. Half Off. —Except for Milk and Eggs.

I asked the manager on duty why the huge sale.
She told me that they are getting New Freezers and Coolers in, and they have to empty out the old ones.

I bought:
10 – 1 Pound of Hamburger (80-20)
8 – Assorted large, name-brand, Pizzas
4 – Boxes of Garlic Toast
4 – Large Boxes of Drumsticks Ice Cream (Family Size)
8 – Assorted Shredded and Block Cheeses
1 – Box of Bomb Pops – Red, White, and Blue Popsicles for a Nephew.

All of their Ham, Bologna, Turkey, Hot Dogs, etc., were Half Off.

The manager said she had more in the Freezers and Coolers in the back.
She said she would refill all the coolers tonight and tomorrow morning.

When I asked if people were buying a lot, she replied, “Some people got two buggies full of items.”

I may go back tomorrow to get some “Totino’s Pizzas.”
They might be .99 Cents. —The price I paid in the early 90s.

Today’s purchase would have easily been over Two Hundred Dollars if I had paid full price.

Today, though, my total came to $98.56

So, look for the Dollar General that is “Nestled” or “Tucked” away somewhere in Gardendale, Alabama. (I’m just being goofy now)
Everything in the Freezer and Cooler section is Half Off.

That’s all for now.

Love you,

–Lynn
