I am an “Old Soul.” I know because people have told me that all my life.
I act today basically how I acted when I was eight years old.
Being born with a disability will do that to a fella’. We have to grow up quick.
And most of my friends are older than me. Much older.
I have one friend who now lives in a nursing home after having a stroke.
He was in the hospital when he had the stroke, which probably was a Blessing.
Since the start of the Pandemic, I haven’t been able to see him.
Don’t get me wrong. I have some friends in Huntsville who are younger than me, and I have one friend in Chattanooga who is younger than me.
We text, email, and talk. We’ll meet up when we can.
Outside of them, every other friend I have is older.
I have one friend, “Mike,” who is in the hospital. He’s in ICU on a ventilator. I’m guessing he’s ’70 years old. We never talk about our age.
We’ve talked in-depth about the movie “Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?”
In fact, he is the one who turned me on to that movie. And what a great movie it is. If you haven’t seen it, please watch it. You’ll watch it more than once, I promise. Hi-Lar-E-Us
And we’ve talked in-depth about Jesus and Heaven.
Like me, he has a brother who is in Heaven. And he misses him.
He told me on more than one occasion, “Lynn, I’m ready to go whenever the Good Lord takes me.”
I’m not ready for him to go, though.
When I got Baptized, I invited just two friends outside of my family.
—My best friend “Lee” and his wife from Huntsville and “Mike” and his wife.
They both showed up, along with most of my family.
So, Mike is an important friend to me. I mean, if you invite someone to your Baptism, they’re important to you.
And now he’s in ICU on a Ventilator.
As I stated earlier, I’m not ready for him to go yet.
So, I’ve been Praying for him. I also asked my Preacher to add Mike to our Prayer List at Church.
I’ve been riding by his house and saying a Prayer for him from the front of his house. —I guess I think my Prayer will work better from there. I don’t know why. Prayer works from any location, and I know that.
Still, though, I feel better Praying for Mike from the front of his house.
While there, I see the Shop/garage that Mike built. He’s proud of it.
We’ve sat in his shop and talked about life. He’s shown me everything he did while building it. Like I said, he’s proud of it.
And I’m not ready to give up our talks just yet.
And if Praying is all I can do, then I’m doing all I can.
And that’s the latest.
Love you,
–Lynn
