—To Family And Friends Who Keep Up with My Health—
I left the house at 11:30 p.m. for a 1:30 appointment with my New Colorectal Doctor. It would be my first time seeing her.
My other Colorectal Doc decided that after 40 years of practicing Colorectal Surgery, he’d change to another field. The field he chose had something to do with Wound Care. I don’t know what it’s called, though.
I get on I-65 and begin my drive.
At “Malfunction Junction,” I headed toward “Red Mountain Expressway.” I think the Expressway is called something else now, but it’ll always be Red Mountain Expressway to me.
From Red Mountain Expressway, I get onto 280…
As I’ve said before, you always have to put an ellipsis after 280…
280 is full of red lights.
Every 100 yards is a red light. And I get stopped at every one of them.
I finally reach Grandview Medical Center Physicians Plaza and park in the parking deck.
From the parking deck, I get on the elevator and go to the fourth floor.
I walk into the office. The time is 12:15 p.m.
“I’m Lynn Thomas, and I’m early for my appointment.”
“Yes, sir, let me look you up.”
I wait.
“You’re at the wrong office, Sir. You need to go farther down 280.”
I get the address of where I’m supposed to go and put it into my GPS.”
Back at my truck, I head further down 280… Again, I stop at every red light.
I arrive. I’m still early.
My appointment is at 1:30 p.m., and the time is now 12:35.
I enter the office.
“I’m Lynn Thomas, and I’m early for my appointment.”
“Yes, sir, let me look you up.”
I wait.
“You’re real early. Your appointment is Thursday, October the fifth at 1:30 p.m.”
I stare.
I take it all in.
“The Doctor is booked today, or else I’d try to fit you in. There’s just no way to fit you in today. I’m so sorry, Sir.”
I take it all in.
“Okay, I’ll see ya Thursday. Thank you, and I apologize.”
“No need to apologize. It happens more often than you’d think.”
I get back on 280… I head back home.
And again, I get stopped at every red light.
And that’s the latest for me.
Love you,
–Lynn
