The Couch Cushion

I began Skipping School in the Seventh Grade.
Many times, my brother “Tony” would Skip School with me.
I’ll cherish those memories ’till my dying day.

One thing we did back then was to go through the couch cushions to find Five Dollars in lost change so that we could walk to the Store and buy 2 Totino Pizzas and 2 Rootbeers.
Yes, Five Bucks would cover it; 2 Totino Pizzas and 2 Rootbeers. —Times were good.

Many times I’d make the walk to “Sav-Mor” Supermarket myself.
Other times, Tony would walk with me.
The distance to the Store was around 2 Miles one-way.
There’s no way I’d make that walk today, but when you’re young, you look at life differently. You see the world differently. You have more energy…

Today I went shopping for food to eat while I’m home “Bachelor’ing” it, and Totino Pizzas was on my list.
I was saddened to see that Totino’s are $2.25 each nowadays, which means, after taxes, two Totinos would be over 5 Bucks.

I don’t know what made me sadder, though: The price of Totino Pizzas or the fact that less change is probably lost in seat cushions nowadays since most everyone now uses Debit Cards, Venmo, Cash App, or Paypal.
Sometimes Kids nowadays have it harder than I had it.
