The New Doc

—To Family and Friends Who Keep Up with My Health—

I had a great appointment with my new Primary Care Physician.
That’s a big deal.
Anyone with something wrong with them will tell you it’s hard to find new doctors who work with their particular situation.
It’s true.
I’ve had doctors tell me they weren’t comfortable treating my problems and would then recommend me to another doctor.
I was worried that might happen.
This doctor said he felt comfortable with my problems and would be able to care for me.

The examination rooms were nice as far as exam rooms go. It even had a couch and a nice chair.
The couch was too low to the ground for me, but it was a nice touch. I sat in the chair.

The doc and I clicked right off the bat.
He asked important questions about me and answered my questions about him.
We got along, laughed, talked about life, and talked about my care.
He told me if I needed my White Blood Cell counted, he could do it there in the office.
I often have to get my WBC checked since having Sepsis a few times—once very badly.

I asked him if he did have to send me to the Hospital, would he send me through the ER, or would he be able to admit me.
He said he hates sending patients to the Hospital using the ER.

“They have enough going on in the ER already. I’ll try to admit you myself before sending you to the ER. I hate sending people to the Hospital through the ER.”

That’s huge.
The ER staff hate it when I come in and say, “My doctor sent me here…Sorry.”
It happens a lot in the ER, and it slows everything down.

That doesn’t mean I won’t have to go to the ER.
Weekends and “After-Hours” are still times when I might have to drive or get driven to the ER.
I know my body, and usually, I know when it’s time to go to the ER.

Hopefully, with this doctor, I’ll be able to call and either go and see him or have him admit me to the Hospital.
Again, though, After-hours are always iffy.

He has a list of all of my Specialists.
I told him that I would mostly be seeing my Specialists.
He understood.

Again, it went well, and I feel good about him being my Primary Care Physician.
I welcomed him to my “Inner Circle.”

That’s all for now.

Love you,

–Lynn
