Hayden Highschool Homecoming Game.
I arrived at about 5:45.
Papa ended up taking Niece one to a different Football Game.
So, I was with Niece two while Papa was with Niece one at a different game.
I sat next to Papa’s friend; he and I had a great conversation the whole evening. He even said I was much more fun than hanging out with Papa.
Country Music from artists such as “Alabama” played loudly from the speakers directly behind me, making conversing with one another hard to do.
At about 6:30, the Pre-Game Homecoming Festivities began.
Now, be kind to me; I’m unfamiliar with the “Homecoming Queen and King” rituals. I didn’t participate in that stuff when I was in school. I was too cool for that. But, looking back, I should have participated more.
My teen years were a wreck, though.
I watched the Fathers walk their Daughters out onto the field.
Everyone dressed their best.
The Fathers were so proud of their Daughters, and it showed.
And I got to watch something I didn’t watch when I was in school. I got to watch the Homecoming Queen get Crowned.
She beamed from ear to ear. And her Father? He was proud.
All the Fathers were proud of their little girls.
And you know what? I just realized that I didn’t see anyone get Crowned King.
But, as I said, I don’t know much about Homecoming Queen and King.
Next, we stood, took our hats off, bowed our heads, and had Prayer before the game.
Afterward, we placed our hands over our hearts to watch the raising of the American Flag while the band played the National Anthem. It was a beautiful moment.
Then, “Let’s Play Ball!”
If you’ve read my other posts about Sports in general, you know that I know pretty much nothing about Football.
I tried, though. I basically copied everything the guy next to me said.
If he said, “They got too many in the box! They need to Throw/Run,” then I agreed. “Yeah! …Dang it…run the ball…dang it…what he said…”
The halftime show was great.
A lot of work goes into that halftime show.
Yes, a lot of talent was on that field last night, and I’m not just talking about the Football Teams.
I heard everything from Metallica’s “Enter Sandman” to “Mr. Sandman” and even part of Beethoven’s “Moonlight Sonata.”
I don’t think I could’ve gone anywhere else and spent less than ten bucks and got as much entertainment as I did last night.
It was a fantastic night.
And we won the Football Game.
That’s all for now.
Love you,
–Lynn
