The Podiatrist

I had my Podiatrist Visit this week.
That whole day is a story within itself. —The whole world seemed to be against me having Escargot or Fried Chicken Livers. I digress, though.

This was my first visit to this Podiatrist.
I hadn’t seen a doctor of this type since I lived in Huntsville.

The place is a block or two away from Five Points South in Birmingham, Alabama.
I arrived at 3:00 for my 3:30 appointment.
I walked in to find a packed lobby.
Three doctors are at this location, and a full lobby does speak volumes, I believe.

After checking in, I sat and waited.
At 3:30, I was called to the back.

In the back, they took my vitals and X-rays of my feet.
This X-ray machine was nice. You stand on it, and it takes the X-rays from the bottom up. Then, after they made some adjustments to the Machine, it took X-rays of my feet from the side.

They then took me back to a room where I lay on a bed and propped my legs and feet upward.
The doctor came in and introduced himself.

While talking to me, the doctor clipped my toenails, scraped the bottoms of my feet, and removed the corn on my foot.
All of this while talking to me.
He then took the Medical Inserts out of my shoes.
He looked at them and took them to another room for some “Repairs.” I was very happy about that.
He said my inserts should last a good long time as long as they “Repair” them at the office during each visit. I was happy to hear that as well. They did cost me 300 bucks, after all.

He said my feet looked very good, considering they were atrophied, misshapen, and diabetic.
And, at this point in life, the doctor didn’t see me having my feet amputated in the future.
That was good news.

The bad news is I have another doctor to see every six months.

And I am still determined to get some Escargot or Fried Chicken Livers soon. Maybe next week.
I am going to relax and not do anything until Monday.

That’s all for now.

Love you,

–Lynn
