Bachelor’in It

“Well, I think that’s about the last of it,” I told Papa.

“Now, remember, dogs, cats, and trash. And have fun,” Papa replied.

“Son, I wish you were going with us,” Mom says.

“Nah. I’ll be fine. Those boats have small bathrooms. I’ll enjoy being alone. I don’t want to see anyone for two weeks. Just me and the animals, TV, Totinos Pizza, Steak, and Baked Potatoes. It’s going to be great.”

“Remember, we’re all on ‘Life360’ if you need to see where we are.”

“Yeah, I wonder what ‘Life360’ will say when you’re in the middle of the Ocean,” I reply.

I kiss and hug everyone; tell my Nieces I love them, and they reply with a mumbled, “Love you, too,” and the family drives off.

I try my best to look like I’ll miss them, but quietly I’m holding back my excitement.
“Bacheloring it,” I quietly say to myself as I wave to them as they drive away.

I walk back inside, lock the door behind me, and “plop” in Papa’s chair and turn the TV on.

I’m “bacheloring” it for the next two weeks.
Just me, myself, and I. And the animals.
It’s going to be so peaceful being by myself.

I do have plans while they are away.
This weekend will be busy, and I’m inviting some friends to come over one day.
Mostly, though, I want to be by myself.

That’s all for now.

Love you,

–Lynn
